Dr Mamphela Ramphele, former vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town and now managing director at the World Bank in Washington, was in Cape Town recently to receive an honorary degree from UCT. Sue Valentine spoke to her during her visit home and spoke to her about a range of topics including the brain drain and her views on South Africa’s response to HIV/AIDS. She began by asking her to remind us about her areas of responsibility at the Bank.
