This, after the Medicines Control Council (MCC) gave the green light last week to one of three Phase One vaccine candidates waiting in the queue for its blessing. The approval of the vaccine, known as Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis (VEE), came after two years of intense debate and discussion. And as Khopotso Bodibe reports, it is accompanied by a number of very strict guidelines, aimed at ensuring the safety of participants in the trial.
