Unwrapped: a US history of the condom

In the USA it was not until the 1970s that a condom could be purchased legally as a contraceptive measure. For almost a century they were available only as a prophylaxis for disease control. Very little has been written about the history of the modern condom, something Paula Treichler is seeking to rectify. She spoke to Health-e on a recent visit to South Africa.
