From Jouberton near Klerksdorp in the North West, Bosaye has been confined to her home after both her legs were affected by gangrene, a condition that occurs when tissue dies following a loss of blood flow due to infection or injury.
She recently received one of ten wheelchairs given to patients in the Jouberton area by the Department of Social Development. She credits a local nongovernmental organisation for linking her to nurse Khumo Maikatswane, who helped raise her need for a wheelchair to local department of health officials.
She has been home-bound for three months after being discharged from hospital. Bosaye was emotional during the hand over of the wheelchair.
“May God bless everyone who helped me, “ she told OurHealth. “I haven’t been able to go outside in a long time (and) I’m very thankful.”
