Following complaints from advocacy groups, the HPCSA initially issued Ramathuba a caution for unprofessional behaviour.

The facility had been operating illegally for years, with its registration denied due to non-compliance.

Communities need to report these issues and support the systems that exist for older persons.

The Limpopo Social Development Department is investigating the centre, with plans to relocate patients to safer facilities.
