Parents educated about raising children

This new child development programme is aimed at educating caregivers about childhood development issues such as mental and social skills, weekly routines, vital nutrition and infant wellbeing.

‘€œThe campaign was launched because we realised there was a need for education in parenting,’€ said Lara Fredericksz, spokesperson for the Raising Roots campaign.

Issues that were covered at the event included health and wellbeing, childhood development, which focuses on what a child require during the different stages of life, protection, and ensuring a safe environment for the child.

The event was held at the Giant Stadium and was followed up by training sessions for interested parents and child minders in Soshanguve.

Participants were impressed by the event and said they can’€™t wait to share the knowledge with others who weren’€™t there. “Our children were fed nutritious food today and I wonder what we will do the following day when these people are gone,” said one of the parents. – OurHealth/Health-e News Service
