Fact Sheet: Rural Health 2015

Deprivation is worst in “ex-homeland rural areas” according to a range of DHB indicators that covered income, unemployment, living standards and education

RHAPThe fact sheet gives an overview of rural health in South Africa via a wide range of statistics from a variety of sources including government and academia.

Information on, for instance, relative deprivation, human resources for health and primary health care expenditure for rural areas is plotted via an extensive table. The sheet also includes a brief discussion regarding the definition of “rural” and the importance of such definitions.
