New President for HIV Clinicians Society
Dr Conradie is an HIV and TB advisor at Right to Care, the country’s largest non-governmental ARV treatment organisation. Right to Care has over 120 000 patients on ARV therapy. Other than adult HIV, the organisation also runs paediatric HIV, prevention of mother-to-child transmission, TB, cervical cancer, medical male circumcision, and HIV counselling and testing programmes.
Dr Conradie is well known in HIV research, treatment, and preventions circles for her commitment to combatting both HIV and TB.
At the HIV Clinicians Society, Dr Conradie takes over from outgoing President Prof Francois Venter. Commenting on the appointment, Dr Conradie says, ‘Francois did a fantastic job. I have big shoes to fill. In keeping with Prof Venter’s legacy, I would like to underscore that the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society will continue its commitment help the South African Department of Health to achieve the goals of the National Strategic Plan for HIV, STIs and TB for 2012 to 2016.’
