Statement: Civil society letter delivered to the Deputy President

Delivered to the Deputy President in early November, the letter outlines concerns regarding the alleged lack of clean water in the province as well as non-functioning local AIDS council. The document goes on to highlight problems in terms of community engagement in the National Health Insurance (NHI) pilot site of Gert Sibande. Finally, the letter discusses the deterioration of health services in the province, high vacancy rates and an alleged lack of emergency services.

The letter was delivered on behalf of the Treatment Action Campaign and public interest group Section27.
