dept_of_health_logoThe 88-page report presents national, provincial and district prevalence rates of both HIV and herpes among pregnant women between the ages of 15 and 49 years of age. The report also looked at whether there was an association between HIV and herpes in four provinces.

The publication also found that the number of districts reporting HIV prevalence rates above the national average of about 30 percent has increased. However, only two districts record an HIV prevalence rate of more than 40 percent among pregnant women: uMgungundlovu, KwaZulu-Natal and Gert Sibande, Mpumalanga.
