Hammanskraal NGO holds GBV, HIV awareness day

Formed in 2012, the NGO assists people with identity documents and food from the organisation’s food gardens. On 19 November, the NGO brought together representatives from the Department of Health, the South African Police Service and the Department of Home Affairs to talk about HIV and GBV.
Local youth Neo Maruping participated in voluntary HIV testing and counseling as part of the event.
“I am happy to know my HIV status and (health workers) even encouraged me to use condoms regulary,” he told OurHealth. “I encourage other youth members to get tested for HIV becase it is very important.”
