Among the specific goals outlined in the annual performance plan are:
- The 2013/14 release of a conceptual framework for a National Health Insurance (NHI) Fund;
- NHI pilot coverage in 50 percent of the country’s health districts by 2018/19;
- 400 professional nurses trained to initiate multidrug-resistant (MDR-TB) treatment by 2018/19;
- One million medical male circumcisions done annually by 2018/19; and
- 90 percent of all prioritised HIV, TB and cancer medications registered for use in South Africa within 22 months by 2018/19.
