Reaching out to their community Living with AIDS # 261

Last week, we visited Tumahole, a township in Parys in the Free State, where we met Khomanani Community Action volunteers as they carried out a door-to-door campaign to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, TB, substance abuse and other STIs. This week, we hear how the Khomanani AIDS and TB awareness programme has become part of the community'€™s structures, such as clinics and schools.

Professor Quarraisha Abdool Karim awarded the Order of Mapungubwe

MEDIA RELEASE: Professor Quarraisha Abdool Karim, Associate Scientific Director of CAPRISA (Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa) is being bestowed with the Order of Mapungubwe: Bronze by the South African State President on Freedom Day (27 April 2013) in recognition of her '€œoutstanding work in the field of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis research and health policy development.'€ The Order of Mapungubwe is South Africa'€™s highest honour.
